Lectures

“Lectures,” in this case, doesn’t mean you’re being scolded by your parents or taught ’bout the birds and the bees. These are more like seminars. Martel occasionally plays host to a Rice faculty member who will give a nice talk about some of their research. We call them “lectures,” because words really can’t describe the unique academic intimacy of these gatherings.

They’re often hosted as part of the Martel-Hanszen Lecture Series, which hosts two lectures a year, one at each College (in different semesters). Our college masters, Ted & Beata, have also frequently hosted distinguished speakers in their home for Tea & Scones nights, open for students to attend.
